Guest: Ora (Ron) A. Roseboro (Music Director) - Bass
Born in Muskogee, OK, Ora Roseboro, better known as Ron, displayed exceptional musical ability at an early age. Ron began his musical career playing the drums. However, by the time he graduated from high school, he knew he was destined to become a professional bassist.
While serving his country in the U.S. Air Force, Ron was afforded the opportunity to travel all over the world playing the bass. He fine-tuned his skills in preparation for his professional career as a bassist. After an honorable discharge, Ron settled in Los Angeles, CA. Initially, Ron found it difficult to get work as a bassist, but that didn’t last long. He found work at some of the hottest clubs such as the Roxy, La Louisianne, Glam Slam and the Continental Club, and several gigs in Las Vegas. While honing his skills on the club circuit, word of Ron’s hard work, dedication, positive attitude and unique playing style began to spread. Soon, he was playing with major theater productions such as “Little Shop of Horrors” produced by Wendy Robinson of the Steve Harvey Show, “Motown Christmas,” “M.D. Another Saturday Nite,” “High Life” featuring Douglas Miller and “Stop Cheating on our God”. These productions travelled extensively throughout the United States.
By the time word of Ron’s musical style, rhythmic percussive thumping and clear distinct finger work had begun to buzz around the industry, Ron was invited to audition for the word famous Rose Royce. Ron impressed the band so much he was made a full member and toured extensively with them throughout London, appeared on the national TV show produced by the legendary Quincy Jones, “Vibe” hosted by Sinbad. He also performed on HBO at the Virgin Islands Old School Jan and at The House of Blues. Besides traveling on nationwide tours, Ron has been a contributing and viable member with such groups as The Delfonics, The Intruders, G.Q., Al Wilson, Brenton Wood, Richard Street (of the Temptations a three time Grammy winner).
Ron’s vast experience from touring with well-renowned bands to volunteering at local churches, has helped him create a style and sound pleasing to all ears. Currently, he is the Musical Director of The Delphonics Experience.
