She participates on the Steering Committee of the City and County of San Francisco Employees Campaign, California State Employees Campaign, the Combined Federal Campaign and acts as a lead in five major workplace campaigns.
During workplace campaign season, Melody acts as the lead federation in AC Transit, Port of Oakland, Alameda County Medical Center and City of Richmond. In this capacity, she is responsible for the development and implementation of the campaign. Some of the major tasks include, budget, print management of campaign materials, planning of kick off events, training of campaign coordinators, scheduling of presentations and pledge processing.
Melody is responsible for the relationship between BABUF the federation and its member agencies. She recruits new member agencies and provides technical assistance.
As Director of Marketing, Melody is responsible for the design of marketing materials and the implementation of all program marketing. Melody has designed and implemented the marketing campaign for all four African American Health Summits hosted by BABUF. In her work as a consultant, she has worked with United Way of the Bay Area, PG&E and Kaiser Permanente as their Workplace Campaign Director. Her areas of expertise are strategic planning, marketing and fund development. She has worked with the Pastors of Oakland to produce a “Tribute to Mothers”. During her six year stint with the African American Community, she planned and implemented five events to “Honor African American Grandmothers”, who were raising their grandchildren due to impact of crack addiction on their daughters. For the past five years she has recruited and scheduled 1,500 volunteers who fry the Deep Fried Asparagus at the Asparagus Festival.
Melody believes in volunteering in the community in which she lives. On Tuesday, February 23rd, she presented a request to the City Council of Stockton to allow Donor Network West to fly their “Donate Life” flag in order to increase awareness of the need to increase the number of Stocktonians on the CA Registry which has increased from 547 to over 2,000 since October 2014. Partnering with Akosua Favors she co-created a Ujama Investment Susu on bbnomics.com to help build an investment pool controlled by African Americans which will be invested in our community on projects such as community gardens, home renovations and community programming. Last week she agreed to work with Terry Johnson to write her Executive Summary which will enable her to fundraise as she develops 20 acres of land in Southern CA for off grid living in a sustainable community with like- minded blacks who want to live off the land, pursue their artistic, farming, husbandry, solar energy or education in a structured environment which we control and develop.
