Guest: Morris Edward Hyche - singer/songwriter Extraordinaire
Morris Edward Hyche hails from Niagara Falls, New York and began singing around the house during his preteen years. During that time, he began to notice that he had a unique falsetto voice, which got a lot of attention during his junior and high school years.
Morris was one of the first teens at his home church, St. John A.M.E, to sing a solo. After that, he sang with multiple groups as the 1st tenor in 4 and 5-man singing groups. At that time, everyone wanted to be either Eddie Kendricks, David Ruffin or Melvin Franklin. He was Eddie.
Later, he was part of a group that opened for the O'Jays and Graham Central Station. After graduation from college with a B.S degree, he traveled West by way of Colorado Springs, then to Los Angeles, where he entered many talent shows and met songwriting partner Kenneth Moore, and they produced several projects together like "Missing You" and Fly Away".
Since arriving in California, he's worked or interacted with the following entertainers, musicians and actors:
Janie Bradford - songwriter. He sang on the demo for the B-side of Diana Ross hit song Muscles, "I Am Me". She wrote the hit song for Marvin Gaye, "Ain't Too Busy Thinking About My Baby".
Eddie Kendricks - Performed on stage at the Strand Nightclub, Redondo Beach, CA.
Cannibal and Headhunters, The Esquires, LA Rhythm Kings, Ron Banks and L J Reynolds, Ralph and Victor Tavares - Carry On
While being a member of First A.M.E church in Los Angeles, he got together with a group of male church members to form a gospel group called the Spiritual Hi-Tones. In 2006, they recorded a 10-track CD, which was widely distributed. He later joined The Delphonics Experience with whom he performs today.
