Our show is discussing issues pertaining to inner city youth and their challenges in day to day life. Subject matters will be inclusive of incarceration, education, employment and day to day survival.
Ronald D. Brooks - Biography
Ron was born in Passaic New Jersey, and at an early Age moved to Clifton New Jersey where he currently resides. At an early age Ron was very active in sports, and after attending Clifton Public Schools he graduated from Hudson Valley College with a Degree in Marketing.
Ron rededicated his life to Jesus Christ in 1989 and was ordained as a Deacon in June of 1995. He has always had a passion for young people, and served as a Youth Ministry Leader, as well as a Pop Warner Head Football Coach for 4 years.
Ron has been a Human Resources Professional at The Home Depot for the past 17 years; and has been responsible for employing, nurturing, and coaching many young adults over his tenured career. His life's ambition is to continue to use Human Resources as a ministry vehicle to inform, strengthen, develop, and motivate people from all walks of life. One of his life's quotes is, "God uses Human Resources for His Glory"!
Ron is an avid music lover; and in his spare time enjoys movies, sports, family time, and is currently working on his first book. Most importantly he is a Servant of The Lord who loves to worship and give God praise.
John Daryl Thornton, CSW. - Biography
Mr. Thornton was born in Harlem, NY and moved to Englewood, NJ in 1968. At an early age, he developed a sense of helping others. At 16 years of age he began working part-time at “The Drug Center,” in Englewood, NJ empowering and encouraging teens his own age to play sports and stay away from drugs. He attended William Paterson College in Wayne, NJ, receiving academic achievement awards.
Mr. Thornton, a certified social worker has counseled juveniles with behavior problems and criminal charges for the State of NJ for 15 years. He also counseled juvenile and young adults with addictive disorders helping them to become productive and diligent citizens.
He has served with distinction as a youth coordinator for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, as well as a manager for a major technology company, where he was instrumental in hiring over 30 youth to participate in a telemarketing survey that provided them with jobs and responsibilities. In 2001 Mr. Thornton was honored by the Urban League Guild for Bergen County’s Eight Annual Recognition Luncheon.
He has also been honored by Senator Baer, of the New Jersey State Senate, Assemblywoman Weinberg and Assemblyman Zisa, of the New Jersey General Assembly. He was also honored by Mayor Paul T. Fader of Englewood, NJ for his meritorious record of service, leadership and commitment.
Presently Mr. Thornton continues to utilize his talents and energies for the common good serving as a Social Services Director for a Medical Facility. He continues to work with youth, seniors, and individuals with medical issues. He also works with individuals with physical and mental disabilities.
He is also president of the Men’s Music Ministry of the Community Baptist Church of Englewood, NJ. He is now and continues to be a Faithful servant of the Lord.
Bryan JAY Carter - Biography
Mr. Carter was born in Passaic, NJ has lived in Rutherford, NJ for most of his life. He realized early in his life that he was good at listening to other people’s problems and helping them to find answers for themselves.
In 1974, Mr. Carter entered the United States Coast Guard and remained in the Coast Guard for four years. He initially entered the Coast Guard to become a medic, when that did not workout he was assigned to the Coast Guard Cutter Steadfast in St. Petersburg Fl. He still dreamed of working with his fellow service men in the medical field, and serviced as morale officer while aboard the Steadfast.
Upon leaving the service, Mr. Carter continued his career in the help field by enrolling in Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ pursuing a degree in Clinical Psychology. He graduated in 1985 with a BA in Clinical Psychology. It was also during this time that Mr. Carter found employment at the United States Postal Service. He worked his way up in the Postal Service and eventually retired after 35 years on February 2, 2017 as Supervisor/Acting Manager of the Passaic Post Office.
During this time, Mr. Carter reaffirmed his commitment to serving the Lord and was ordained by Pastor Cary E. McCall III of the St. Paul Baptist Church as a Deacon on November 22, 2003. He also served as Vice Chair of the Trustee Board.
Mr. Carter continued to follow his call to counsel by attending postgraduate classes at Bergen Community College, Rutgers Newark, and Fairleigh Dickinson in Madison, NJ. Because of the demands of his job, he decided to continue his education online and earned an Advanced Diploma in Biblical Counseling from Light University on August 4, 2013 and a Masters Diploma in Biblical Counseling with a concentration in Addictions and Recovery on May 10, 2015. He is presently pursuing his Doctorate at Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary. He is also studying for his counseling license at Bergen Community College.
